Model A Era Fashions

Wearing period clothing from the Model A era - 1928 through 1931 - is an enjoyable way to truly experience a step back in time. Several of our members enjoy donning their era duds at Model A events and encourage others to try it out!

The Sonoma As’ are fortunate to have MAFCA Fashion Judges in our ranks who periodically hold clinics or programs and inspire new members in our group to join others who enjoy dressing the part.

Era Fashion Judging

Era Fashion judging is a popular event held at National Conventions and most major regional events, offering categories for Original, Reproduction, and Era Image. Different divisions include Daytime, Sports, Specialty, and Formal, with separate Classes for Children, Junior, Family, Group, Couple, Men, and Women.

Over the years the MAFCA Era Fashions Committee has created several publications to assist members including the MAFCA Era Fashion Guidelines, Fashion Judging Procedures Manual, and a Book of Fashion Facts – all available on MAFCA’s website.

They have also provided a collection of sewing patterns from the era, and several interesting articles with new articles posted every other month.

Think you might like to be a Fashion Judge? You’ll find the information and tests on MAFCA’s website as well.
