Model A Ford Club of America, Sonoma County, CA

Benefits of Membership

The Sonoma A’s are a very active, diverse and fun loving group who enjoy the good fortune of living and playing in Sonoma County: California’s original Wine Country! Our Mediterranean climate allows us to be active most of the year, and we strive to have several events each month.

Local tours have included historical sites and museums, poker runs, breakdown tours, mystery tours, wine tours, beach parties and manifold cookouts, and our popular Second Saturday Breakfasts and Third Thursday Ice Cream Socials (spring/summer). Overnight tours to the Turlock Swap Meet, Spring Opener, NCRG Roundup, Northwest Regional Meet, and Labor Day Meet are annual events. Our Model A’s have traveled the western states and Canada, and to MAFCA National meets in New England, Texas, and British Columbia, with members keeping us apprised of their daily jaunts by emailed reports and photos. We have a summer BBQ, a really scary Halloween Party, and end the year with the election and installation of Officers at our annual Christmas Party.

Are you afraid of driving that old A because it might break down? Don’t be - it has happened to all of us! Every breakdown is an opportunity to identify mechanical problems, and there are usually members on tour who have experience and spare parts for most situations. Our monthly educational hands-on Garage Days are drawing large crowds as we all learn together. It’s a great opportunity to build your knowledge and gain confidence, and to maintain your Model A Ford for safe, dependable touring.

The club maintains an extensive library of videos featuring technical instruction for Model A restoration and mechanics, as well as a few of historical interest. Our library which is free to members also includes the Model A Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards and the Fashion Guidelines. The library is accessible on this website under the Members Log-in (coming soon). We also own a collection of tools, some specific to the Model A, which are available for checkout at no charge. Several members also offer their own tools for loan to our members (the tool checkout list is accessible on this website under the Members Log-in, coming soon).

Our newsletter, the Grapevine Gazette, is published monthly and delivered via email unless specified US Post delivery. The newsletter contains information and a calendar on upcoming events, local swap meets, tour reports and photos, meeting minutes, tech or era fashion articles, and advertisements for vendors that have provided good service to our members. We hope you will join us!
